Trigun
A not-so long time LATER, in a galaxy which is not our own, there is a planet not too different from our own... aside from the fact that it's a big uninhabitable ball of sand with no existing ocean. Many strange creatures walk that land, but none so strange as a man with a spiky blond hair, a bright red coat, and a big, shiny gun.
Back to the planet, no one seems to have the heart to give it a name, so I'll continue to call it "ball of sand." Ball of Sand is too inhospitable to support human life, so the humans there rely on giant light bulb-looking objects called "plants." These plants are able to generate seemingly endless supplies of electricity and produce elements such as water, sort of like magic djinns, yet no one who uses them has any idea how they work. The sad part about this is that the plants sometimes break down, and barely anyone knows how to repair them anymore. Thus, the humans on this planet are doomed unless they develop their own technology. This doesn't seem likely to happen since they are all stuck in an old western scenario. People seem to be more interested in monetary gain than the future of Ball of Sand... which brings me back to Spiky-Haired Man.
Spiky-Haired Man is wanted dead or alive for various heinous acts. He is rumored to kill on a whim, destroy entire cities, and be a terror to women. The funny thing is, Spiky-Haired Man is a pacifist whose motto is "Love & peace." He couldn't bring himself to kill a fly even if it were sucking the life's blood out of him. Strange... Go figure.
Anyways, the part about him being directly involved with the destruction of entire cities is apparently true, so the conglomerate insurance company of Bernardelli have sent two disaster investigators to keep tabs on him and prevent him from causing any further damage. If the damage is already under way, it is their job to minimize it. Now, you're probably wondering what kind of hotshot investigators this company gave this job to, right? Two girls. One with attitude and righteousness to spare, and another with a childlike quality and enormous physical strength.
When they, Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson catch up to their spiky-haired target, Vash the Stampede, a man wanted for $$60,000,000,000, that's where the story begins.
