Serial Experiments LAIN
The series starts off very slow, they kind of drop you into the middle of happenings with LAIN's freind having committed suicide.  Lain later gets and e-mail from her "dead" freind saying she isnt really dead, she just discarded her body.  After Lain gets a new "Navi" which is basically a laptop, and a weird computer chip, she goes computer nuts and he room grows like a rouge boomer.  Her freinds begin seeing copies of her watching them doing their most privet things, like getting wet over a school teacher.  Lain even meets the "God" of the Wired who says that he gave her a body, and Lain later proves that he is just a stand-in for an even higher power.  It turns out that there are two primary Lains, a Lain that exists in reality and a Lain that exists in the Wired.

The real Lain is apparently a program that was designed to reconnect the Wired and the real world.  Which leads us to believe that the Wired Lain is in fact the real Lain.  We also find out that a God is only a God if it has people to worship it.  And as long as nobody knows something exists then whos to say it ever really did?  We see smiling aleans, freakishly deformed Lains and a god who can't put a body together right.
This series is an excelent one and must be watched at all costs, if you like a thinker than this is the series for you, if you dont, then just passivly watch it.  I dont know if I'd reccomend buying it, but renting it or catching it on TV is a must.
