Neon Genesis Evangelion
This 1997 anime seemed to be like any other anime, the same old story line of robots and pilots that pilot them who need to save the earth from doom. The story starts about typically as the star of the series Shinji Ikari shows up in Neo Tokyo 3 the year is 2015, and more then half the world is dead. Yes as I said very typical of an anime storyline. However there is much more then meet the eye the anime is filled with secrets and information that is never really put out in the open, each character is different, no one has the same problem or lifestyle, making the characters more realistic, and enables the view to relate to them and there problem.
The pilot Shinji Ikari Asuka Langley Sohryu and Rei Ayanami who pilot the Evangelion Units, hold the fait of the would on there shoulders, there job is to defend Tokyo 3 and from the Angel, the children Kensuke Aida, Hikari Horaki, Touji Suzuhara who also live in and go to school in Tokyo 3. The Organization protecting Tokyo 3 called "NERV" Mostly made up by Gendo Ikari, Kouzou Fuyutski, Ryouji Kaji (Rubble Agent), Misato Katsuragi, Ritsuko Akagi, Maya Ibuki, Shigeru Aoba, and Makoto Hyuga, guide the pilots in battle training them to fight better, and also helping them in life both and Pilots and NEVER could not exist with each other. As the series progresses the plot get more and more complex, this not what you would call a "Watching anime" one can't just watch and absorbed it, one must see and learn every detail, because they build up bit by bit, latter on as the pilots progress, and become more skilled in fighting there is conflict between Shinji and Asuka, Shinji is trying to understand Rei, and at the same time his father who he has a bad past with.
Misato Katsuragi who is Shinji's caretaker, and has conflicts of her own , all the characters, are inter twined and each one has problems to solve. As the series come to the end, the last angel the 17th Angel shows but to a huge surprise to all and especially Shinji it ends up to be a young boy who was the 5th Child, Kaoru Nagi who Shinji he to kill with his own Eva's hands. The idea from the characters stand point is that they was the last angel the 17th angel is dead, and life will go back to normal, Also at this point in the series one is now involved in the completed lives of all the characters, with the last angel dead there seems to be nothing left, but there is, The End of The World, Shinji now lost, having killed a person who cared for him, knowing all the angel are death, does not know what to do with his life. So he is put in the spot light, and it end with Shinji making up his mind to live life with out being prefect. There is so much top go into with this series, but I just felt this small tid bit would help.
