Metropolis
Now this was good. Charater appearances wernt too good, but the plot was very good, there were alot of things you didnt expect. Starts out in the city of Metropolis which is seperated into levels: Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 3, they get worse as you go down. In this modernized city robots are almost as populus as people and obiously the robots are kept in thri place, with force. Any robot found out of place is shot on sight. Here we meet Duke Red who has just suplied tthe money to construct a gigantic tower called Ziggaraut. It is rumored that atop this gigantic tower is a wepon of mass destruction, and like most rumors it is true. There is a device atop the building that can create sunspots bathing the planet in electromagnetic radition causeing all things electrical, mostly the robots, to go on the fritz. Apparently Duke Red lost his daughter long ago and has hired some kind of mad-scientist to build him more or less of an android, a robot that looks so human that you cannot tell that it isn't. Duke Red's son, Rock, who's not really his son, just an oprhan he adopted, hates robots and is determined to kill the android that Duke Red is having made because he dosent want his "fathers" heart stolen by a machine.

Enter Kenichi a boy traveling with his uuncle from Japan, yes this does not take place in Japan. Kenichi's uncle is a Private Detective who is on the searh for the same scientist who is building Duke Red's robot. Rock, hating robots, follows his "father" to the lab where Tima(the robot daughter) is being built, after his "father" leaves he enters the lab and kills the scientist, and then damages Tima, but most of the building is destroyed before he had the cahnce to really destroy her. After the fire robots arrive Kenichi and his uncle enter the building because they saw the scientist inside, the one they were looking for, his uncle finds the scientist, and Kenichi finds Tima, but the building collapses and they fall into the lowest level-the sewers. So far the movie was extremly good, the graphics were superb, but the men have kind of a Popye-look, large forearms, and large calfs. Tima and the women, which you dont see often, look rather normal, with the exception of an exaggerated head.

After mulitiple encounters with Rock Tima an Kenichi meet up with the leader of a rebellion group that hates robots. Kenichi's uncle and the brobot that was helping him meet up with this group later on, and when the robot tells the uncle to get backup, he is left with the mob leader who kills the robot. Now this reble group was promised support by the military, but another military person involved betrayed those he was working with and used the military to kill the rebels. around this point Tima finally meets Duke Red, who takes her to the tower and after some semi-pointles scenes, shows her this special room where she will be able to rule the world. But Rock shows up and shoots Tima damaging her, she joins with the system and sort-of goes insane. "Chance of human survival 30%" she intends to use the machine to activate all wepons of mass destruction around the globe and destroy everything. The graphics get really cool here, you get the see this system unfolding and all kinds off cool workings going on. Now Kenich who happens to be in the Tower, which is basically a Tower of Bable(I dont know why this is such a recurring theme in anime!) trys to stop Tima, and after a bit of struggling rips her from the chair she was hooked into. but one peice of the system is still hooked into her and keeps her in a semi-evil-robot state. At this point the robots are having a revolution and are trying to kill Duke Red, but Rock shows up and presses the self-destruct on the tower(who in their right mind puts a self destruct on a tower that big??), and as the tower is collapsing Tima falls off the catwalk she's on. and is caught by that one remaining circut-board. Kenichi pulls her up and since the wire snaps in the process he returns to normal but not before slipping from his grasp and falling hundreds of stories to an untimly squish. In the end the tower is destroyed, and all that remains are a few robots, some peices of Tima, and a couple people, in Metropolis anyway. Somehow it's a happy ending.
